From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 1–

“A story about the joys and difficulties of growing from babyhood to toddlerhood. Baby Bear is fed, dressed, and bathed by his parents–until they find themselves otherwise occupied. In that one day, Baby Bear tries to feed, dress, and bathe himself, bungling every task until his parents teach him how.

At day’s end, they are so impressed with his accomplishments that they note that little bears don’t have to go to bed as early as baby bears, even though they need to be tucked in with their sleeping friends. In this compact story, which compresses several developmental tasks into the day’s learning, the message is unavoidable. The pictures, vivid pastels, make these teddies recognizable as human and fantasy figures at the same time. The story does not dwell on Baby Bear’s foul-ups, but rather on his accomplishments, and makes a good bedtime story as well.”
